systems administration services

Aeturnum's Systems Administration Services offer a wide range of capabilities needed for hosting applications and to design, implement and maintain the Information Systems infrastructure of a company.

High-Availability Clusters and Load Balancing

HA clusters (aka Failover Clusters) are used primarily to improve the availability of services by reducing the SPOF (Single Point of Failure) and manual intervention requirements by using redundancy and special clustering mechanisms at the hardware and/or software levels.

Load balancing is used to split the load among a set of nodes using hardware or software load balancers. Normally, both HA clustering and the load balancing are implemented together to increase the availability while enabling the applications to take on high load volumes in a concurrent model.

The mechanisms used to implement HA clusters or load balancing vary depending on the technologies used in the respective tier to be clustered.

Examples of Aeturnum’s clustering experience:

  • Apache/ Jboss Load Balancing
  • Jboss Application level HA clustering
  • WebSphere Cluster and Load Balancing
  • Oracle RAC (Real Application Cluster)
  • MySQL Cluster

Capacity Planning

Aeturnum has significant experience forecasting and planning for future capacity requirements with respect to application usage and architectural changes. Our team studies and analyzes past data including application usage, resource utilization on live/production environments and the future changes of the application to optimize hardware and software capabilities.
